Debian Developers Must have perfect smelling s/smelling/spelling

W: defusion-keyring: spelling-error-in-changelog alot a lot
N:
N:   Lintian found a spelling error in the latest entry of the Debian
N:   changelog. Lintian has a list of common misspellings that it looks
N:   for. It does not have a dictionary like a spelling checker does.
N:
N:   When writing a changelog entry for a spelling fix that includes the
N:   misspelling, ensure the word “spelling” is on the same line as the
N:   misspelled word to avoid triggering this warning.

This made my day.

Did they put this warning in for pinheads (like me) who insist on  being lintian pure at all costs yet can’t spell worth a damn. I guess now i need to learn to spell (that or take a shower)

Will the real bad evil hax0r…. Please stand up

Ok I know I fail at writing titles but here’s a funny story, You know that em SSL erm thing a couple of weeks ago. Well apparently in the rush to patch and regenerate keys I somehow forgot that I hadn’t updated uhh…. umm… MY PRIMARY BOX . (wait it gets better) However I proceeded to regenerate all the keys on that box anyhow thinking it was all cool and safe secure in the knowledge that the Debian/Ubuntu security guys were doing a good job (as programmed ;) to protect me, my boxen and the countless tons of useless crap on said boxen. :) I GET HAXED THE END

This blog is now the property of Apple (R). We haz ur ip addreezez and we gunna suez u! HA scared ya didn’t I. Well no what I actually did when I found out was rm -f ~/.ssh/id_rsa*. Now the problem with that is that removed all the bad ssh keys, One of which was the ssh key used for my VPS. Not a big deal right just login with a password and replace… RIGHT… Well not exactly My ssh server operates with password auth disabled and on a random high port. So for those of you fallowing along at home that means I just rmed my only way of getting onto the box! Oh $(FOURLETTERWORD).. So i contact my vps provider.  Who is for all intents and purposes is a guy named nenolod. He told me that there was a thing called a Serial Console that would save the day. Happy ending right :) well ahhh umm NO, For those of you that know nenolod (as many do) he has a bad habit of telling you a General anwser like “Connect to the Serial console” and not telling you how the $(FOURLETTERWORD) to do it. Google was no help on this one and i needed to get in to do some work So… I used the Debian ssh vulnerability against myself. Its so easy my brother (who is a pc gamma and occasionally  a 1337 Script kidde) could do it. The exploit consists of wget, tar, grep, cat and cp (I couldn’t use the perl script because of fail2ban) . i had a session log but i lost it due to an unfortunate emacs crash :(

You Can never be sure
